Frequently Asked Questions
What is the rectangular backplate and how does it differ from other backplate styles?
The rectangular backplate is a clean, flat long-plate mounting style with straight edges and square corners — a versatile format that suits both contemporary and transitional interiors. Other backplate styles in the Iver range include the round rose (compact circular mounting), square rose (compact square mounting), oval backplate (long-plate with rounded ends) and shouldered backplate (long-plate with traditional pointed top and moulded border). All are available in the same functions and finishes.
What makes the Stirling lever distinctive?
The Stirling lever features a gracefully curved scrolled form with a traditional swan-neck profile — classic heritage character that brings warmth and elegance to any door. On the rectangular backplate, it creates a warmly traditional combination suited to period-style and heritage interiors.
What material is it made from?
The Stirling lever on rectangular backplate is crafted from solid brass. This gives it a heavy, premium feel and ensures it won't rust or corrode over time. The solid brass core is then finished in your chosen surface treatment (e.g. Matt Black, Brushed Brass, Polished Chrome).
What warranty is included?
Iver door hardware is backed by a 10-Year Mechanical Warranty in Australia, covering defects in materials and workmanship. In addition:
Lifetime Finish Warranty — available on Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, Polished Nickel and Brushed Gold PVD, covering against corrosion.
Living finishes — finishes such as Polished Brass and Brushed Brass naturally age and develop a patina over time. These are generally excluded from finish defect warranties, as this ageing is an inherent and desirable characteristic of the material.

What is the difference between Passage, Privacy and Entrance functions?
The function determines how your door latches and locks — and which kit you need:
Passage (Latch — 60mm backset) — door latches shut, no locking. Suited to bedrooms, living rooms and studies.
Privacy (Privacy — 60mm backset) — lockable from inside with a snib (turn-lock), no key required. Suited to bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms.
Entrance (Euro — 85mm CTC, 60mm backset) — locks with a key via euro cylinder. Suited to front doors, back doors or any door requiring external security.

Can I use the Entrance Kit on my front door?

Is this fire rated?
Yes. The Stirling lever on rectangular backplate has been successfully fire rated to 2 hours in accordance with Australian Standard AS1530.4:2014. Contact our sales team for further details or documentation.

Ball bearing — Best for entrance and heavier doors. Reduces friction and prevents squeaking over time.
Fixed pin — Suited to internal doors and lighter entrance doors. A reliable all-rounder.
Loose pin — Internal use only. Ideal for bathrooms as the door can be lifted off its hinges in an emergency, even when locked.
