Equally at home as a glamorous element in a contemporary project or a sophisticated complement to traditional furnishings. Crafted from solid brass and fire rated to 2 hours to meet Australian Standard AS1530.4:2014.

Bundle guide — what else do you need?

Follow these three steps to build the right kit for your door.

Step 1 — What is your door made of?

Timber door

Most common for internal doors. The Copenhagen installs directly using the included wood screws.

⌫ Typical thickness: 35mm – 45mm

ⓘ Check your door thickness before selecting a mortice lock

Aluminium door

Common for modern or commercial-style homes. May require aluminium-specific fixings — contact us if unsure.

⌫ Typical thickness: 44mm – 55mm

ⓘ Confirm latch/lock compatibility with your door frame profile

Step 2 — What type of door is it?

Passage — no locking required

Bedrooms, living rooms, studies — doors that simply open and close. Both inside and outside levers are always free.

You need: Copenhagen Lever + Tube Latch

Privacy — lockable from inside only

Bathrooms, ensuites, or bedrooms where you want a snib (turn-lock) on the inside.

You need: Copenhagen Lever + Tube Latch + Privacy Bolt

Entrance — keyed lock

Front or back doors, or any door you want to lock with a key.

You need: Copenhagen Lever + Mortice Lock

Door thickness guide — mortice lock selection

35mm – 40mm

Standard mortice lock

40mm – 55mm

Heavy-duty or long-case mortice lock

Key/Key — lock and unlock from both sides with a key

Key/Thumb — lock from inside with a thumb turn, key from outside (most popular)

ⓘ Rebated (overlapping) double door? Choose the rebated mortice lock — includes rebate kit

Step 3 — Is it a double door?

Double doors need flush bolts to keep the inactive door secure and prevent rattling.

Standard doors (under 2100mm)

150mm bolt top + 150mm bolt bottom

Taller doors (2100mm and above)

300mm bolt top + 150mm bolt bottom

Flush bolts are available in non-lockable and key-lockable versions. A magnetic catch (e.g. PLS24PRO) can be used in place of the bottom bolt if preferred.

Hinges

Not sure which hinge to choose? Use this as your guide.

Ball bearing

Entrance and heavier doors

Reduces friction, prevents squeaking and wear. Best for high-use doors.

Fixed pin

Internal and lighter entrance doors

A reliable all-rounder for most internal applications.

Loose pin

Internal use only — ideal for bathrooms

Door can be lifted off its hinges in an emergency, even when locked.

ⓘ As a general rule: 3 hinges for internal doors, 3 hinges for entrance or heavier doors. Contact us for a full hinge positioning guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Copenhagen lever distinctive?

The Copenhagen features a multi-faceted lever barrel with flat chamfered faces that catch and reflect light — giving it a distinctive diamond-like appearance that sets it apart from standard lever handles. Mounted on a stepped round rose with a raised collar detail, it draws on 20th Century European design for a look that is simultaneously classic and striking. It adapts equally well to contemporary and traditional interiors.

What material is the handle made from?

The Copenhagen lever is crafted from solid brass. This gives it a heavy, premium feel and ensures it won't rust or corrode over time — unlike cheaper zinc-alloy alternatives. The solid brass core is then finished in your chosen surface treatment (e.g. Matt Black, Brushed Brass, Distressed Nickel).

What warranty is included?

Iver door hardware is backed by a 10-Year Mechanical Warranty in Australia, covering defects in materials and workmanship. In addition:

  • Lifetime Finish Warranty — available on specific premium finishes: Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, Polished Nickel and Brushed Gold PVD, covering against corrosion.
  • Living finishes — finishes such as Polished Brass and Raw Bronze are considered living finishes that naturally age and develop a patina over time. These are generally excluded from finish defect warranties, as this ageing is an inherent and desirable characteristic of the material.

Contact us for full warranty terms and conditions.

Will this handle work on my door — timber or aluminium?

Yes. The Copenhagen lever is compatible with both timber and aluminium doors. For timber doors, the included wood screws are used for fixing. For aluminium doors, you may require aluminium-specific fixings depending on your door profile — contact us if you're unsure and we can advise.

What is the difference between Passage, Privacy and Entrance functions?

The function determines how your door latches and locks:

  • Passage — The door latches shut but cannot be locked. Both inside and outside levers are always free. Suited to bedrooms, living rooms and studies.
  • Privacy — The door can be locked from the inside using a snib (turn-lock), with no key required. Suited to bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms.
  • Entrance — The door locks with a key. Suited to front doors, back doors or any door requiring external security.

What is included in the box — and what do I need to buy separately?

Each listing includes one pair of Copenhagen levers, the stepped round rose backplates, face fix wood screws, and tie bolts. Latches and locks are included depending on the function you select (Passage, Privacy or Entrance). Hinges and flush bolts are not included — use the bundle guide above to select what you need.

Can I use the Copenhagen lever on my front door?

Yes. Select the Entrance function and pair the Copenhagen lever with a compatible mortice lock and security cylinder. You can choose between Key/Key (keyed from both sides) or Key/Thumb (thumb turn on the inside, key on the outside — the most popular choice for residential entry doors).

How do I know which mortice lock to choose based on my door thickness?

Door thickness determines which mortice lock case you need:

  • 35mm – 40mm — Standard mortice lock
  • 40mm – 55mm — Heavy-duty or long-case mortice lock

Measure the thickness of your door slab (not including the frame) before ordering. If you're between sizes, contact us and we'll help you select the right lock.

Is the Copenhagen fire rated?

Yes. The Copenhagen lever has been successfully fire rated to 2 hours in accordance with Australian Standard AS1530.4:2014. Contact our sales team for further details or documentation.

How many hinges do I need and which type?

As a general rule, we recommend 3 hinges for internal doors and 3 hinges for entrance or heavier doors. The type of hinge also matters:

  • Ball bearing — Best for entrance and heavier doors. Reduces friction and prevents squeaking over time.
  • Fixed pin — Suited to internal doors and lighter entrance doors. A reliable all-rounder.
  • Loose pin — Internal use only. Ideal for bathrooms as the door can be lifted off its hinges from outside in an emergency, even when locked.

Contact us for a full hinge positioning guide based on your door height and weight.

Do I need flush bolts for a double door?

Yes. Flush bolts are used to secure the inactive leaf of a double door and prevent it from rattling. We recommend:

  • Doors under 2100mm — 150mm bolt at the top and 150mm bolt at the bottom
  • Doors 2100mm and above — 300mm bolt at the top and 150mm bolt at the bottom

Flush bolts are available in non-lockable and key-lockable versions. A magnetic catch (e.g. PLS24PRO) can also be used in place of the bottom bolt.

What finishes are available?

The Copenhagen lever is available in 7 finishes: Brushed Brass, Brushed Chrome, Distressed Nickel, Matt Black, Polished Chrome, Satin Nickel and Signature Brass. If you're unsure which finish suits your interior, contact us — we're happy to help.

Are these handles sold as a pair?

Yes. All Copenhagen lever sets are sold as a pair, including handles for both the inside and outside of a single door, along with the spindle and all required fixings.
