Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Osaka lever distinctive?
The Osaka lever features a chunky tapered cylindrical barrel with a softly rounded tip and clean edging where it meets the round rose. Understated and chic, it complements daring spaces and minimalist design through its simple shape and quiet confidence — a handle that feels as good in the hand as it looks on the door.
What functions are available?
The Iver Osaka Door Lever on Round Rose is available in three functions. Passage — the door latches shut but cannot be locked, suited to hallways, living rooms and bedrooms. Privacy — lockable from inside with a turn-lock (snib), suited to bathrooms and ensuites. Entrance — keyed locking via a mortice lock, available in Key/Key (key from both sides) or Key/Thumb (thumb turn inside, key outside) configurations.
What is the difference between Passage, Privacy and Entrance?
Passage function means the door latches shut when closed but cannot be locked — both levers are always free. Privacy adds an internal turn-lock (snib) so the occupant can lock from the inside only — the outside lever is always free. Entrance adds keyed locking via a mortice lock — the outside requires a key and the inside can be a key (Key/Key) or thumb turn (Key/Thumb). Choose based on your security and privacy requirements for each door.
What is a round rose and how does it differ from other backplate styles?
A round rose is the circular backplate that the lever mounts onto — at 52mm diameter it provides a compact, clean mounting point on the door face. It differs from a rectangular backplate (long plate format), square rose (square backplate) and oval backplate. The round rose creates a minimal, contemporary look that suits modern and transitional interiors where a clean door face is preferred.
What is included in the box?
Every set includes 1 pair of Osaka levers, 52mm round rose backplates, face fix wood screws and tie bolts. Latches and locks are included depending on the function selected — Passage includes a tube latch, Privacy includes a tube latch and privacy bolt, and Entrance includes a mortice lock. Hinges and flush bolts are not included and must be selected separately.
What material is it made from?
The Iver Osaka lever and round rose are crafted from solid brass. This gives the hardware a heavy, premium feel and ensures long-term durability. The solid brass core is then finished in your chosen surface treatment — Matt Black, Brushed Brass, Polished Chrome and others — each applied over the solid brass base.
What doors is this suitable for?
The Iver Osaka Door Lever on Round Rose is suited to timber and aluminium doors with a thickness of 35mm to 55mm. Timber doors are the most common for internal applications and install directly using the included wood screws. Aluminium doors may require specific fixings — contact us if unsure about compatibility with your door frame profile.
Is this fire rated?
Yes. The Iver Osaka Door Lever on Round Rose is fire rated to 2 hours in accordance with Australian Standard AS1530.4:2014. This makes it suitable for installation on fire-rated internal doors where 2-hour rated hardware is required. Contact us for fire rating documentation if required for your project.
What warranty is included?
Iver door hardware is backed by a 10-Year Mechanical Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. A Lifetime Finish Warranty applies to Polished Chrome and Brushed Chrome. Brushed Brass is a living finish that naturally ages and develops a patina over time and is generally excluded from finish defect warranties. All products are covered by Australian Consumer Law.
What finishes are available?
The Iver Osaka Door Lever on Round Rose is available in 6 finishes: Brushed Brass, Brushed Chrome, Matt Black, Polished Chrome, Satin Nickel and Signature Brass. Polished Chrome and Brushed Chrome are covered by the Lifetime Finish Warranty. Brushed Brass is a living finish that will naturally age and patina over time. Contact us if you need help choosing a finish to suit your interior.
How many hinges do I need?
As a general rule, 3 hinges are recommended per door for both internal and entrance applications. Ball bearing hinges are best for entrance and heavier doors. Fixed pin hinges suit standard internal doors. Loose pin hinges are ideal for bathrooms as the door can be lifted off in an emergency even when locked. Contact us for a full hinge recommendation to suit your door weight and type.
Do I need flush bolts for a double door?
Yes. Flush bolts secure the inactive leaf of a double door and prevent rattling. For doors under 2100mm use 150mm bolt top + 150mm bolt bottom. For taller doors use 300mm bolt top + 150mm bolt bottom. Available in non-lockable and key-lockable versions. A magnetic catch (e.g. PLS24PRO) can be used in place of the bottom bolt if preferred.
