Zanda 1143 Euro Mortice Lock — 60mm Backset, 2-Stage Bolt, High Security Entry Door Lock

The Zanda 1143 is a high security euro mortice lock with a 60mm backset, 86mm case size, and 85mm pitch — the distance between the cylinder hole and the spindle hole. Featuring a 2-stage bolt throw for enhanced security and a latch that retracts on key, it is designed for entry doors using euro profile cylinders. Available in six architectural finishes, backed by a 10 Year Mechanical Warranty, and supplied with a fitting template for accurate installation.

2-Stage Bolt: The 1143 combines a spring latch and a deadbolt in one unit. The latch holds the door shut on closing; turning the key throws the deadbolt for secure locking. The latch also retracts on key for smooth entry without a handle turn.

Bundle Guide

Step 1 — Backset: The 1143 uses a 60mm backset — measure from the edge of the door to the centre of the existing handle bore to confirm. For a 45mm backset, see the 1142.

Step 2 — Cylinder: The 1143 requires a euro profile cylinder (sold separately). Choose a single cylinder (key/turn) for external entry doors or a double cylinder (key/key) for doors requiring key access from both sides. See the Zanda Euro Single Cylinder or Euro Double Cylinder range.

Step 3 — Escutcheon: An escutcheon (keyhole cover plate) is required to finish the installation. Choose from the Zanda oval or square escutcheon range in your selected finish.

Step 4 — Finish: Select from Stainless Steel, Graphite Nickel, Matt Black, Satin Brass, White, or Ember Bronze to coordinate with your door hardware scheme.

What does the 2-stage bolt on the Zanda 1143 mean?
The 2-stage bolt combines a spring latch and a deadbolt in one mechanism. When the door closes, the spring latch engages automatically to hold the door shut. Turning the key once throws the deadbolt for secure locking. The latch also retracts on key turn, allowing smooth entry without needing to operate a handle at the same time.
What is the difference between the 1142 and 1143?
Both are the same euro mortice lock with 85mm pitch and a 2-stage bolt, but with different backsets. The 1142 has a 45mm backset and 71mm case size — suited to narrower door stiles or where door prep is already cut at 45mm. The 1143 has a 60mm backset and 86mm case size — the standard for most residential and commercial entry door applications. Measure from the edge of your door to the centre of your existing lock bore to confirm which you need.
What cylinder does the 1143 require?
The 1143 requires a euro profile cylinder, sold separately. For an external entry door, choose a euro single cylinder (key outside / turn inside). For doors requiring key access from both sides — such as a glass door — choose a euro double cylinder (key/key). See the Zanda euro cylinder range for compatible options in your selected finish.
What finishes is the Zanda 1143 available in?
The 1143 Euro Mortice Lock is available in six finishes: Stainless Steel, Graphite Nickel, Matt Black, Satin Brass, White, and Ember Bronze — coordinating across the full Zanda door hardware range for consistent specification across a project.
What warranty does the Zanda 1143 carry?
The Zanda 1143 Euro Mortice Lock is backed by a 10 Year Mechanical Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions.
