Installation Guide
Follow these steps to ensure correct product selection before installation.
Step 1 — Choose your backset
45mm Backset
Case depth: 72mm
Suited to narrower door stiles or where the door hardware positions the cylinder closer to the door edge.
60mm Backset
Case depth: 87mm
The most common backset for residential entrance doors. Provides more door edge clearance for the cylinder.
Step 2 — Check your door type
Standard door
Flat door edge — use the standard (non-rebated) version.
Rebated double door
13mm stepped door edge — use the rebated version with rebated faceplate.
Step 3 — Select your euro cylinder
Key/Thumb (most popular)
Key from outside, thumb turn from inside. Best for residential entrance doors.
Key/Key
Key from both sides. Suited to commercial applications or doors requiring external access from both sides.
Step 4 — Add matching escutcheons

What is a euro mortice lock and how does it work?
A euro mortice lock is a lock case that is morticed (recessed) into the edge of a door. It operates via a euro cylinder — a standardised oval-shaped cylinder that accepts a key from the outside and a thumb turn from the inside (in Key/Thumb configuration). The 85mm CTC measurement refers to the distance between the centre of the spindle hole (which connects to your door lever or knob) and the centre of the euro cylinder hole. This 85mm spacing is the standard for Iver entrance lever handle sets.
How does the Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock Rebated work?
The Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock Rebated features the same spring latch and deadbolt mechanism as the standard Euro Mortice Lock, but with a rebated faceplate designed to fit the 13mm stepped edge of rebated double doors. The rebated faceplate steps out to bridge the gap between the two door leaves, ensuring the latch and deadbolt engage correctly with the strike plate on the inactive door. This version is not suitable for standard flat-edge doors.
What is the difference between the roller bolt and the standard spring latch?
The rebated version is designed exclusively for French doors and double door sets where the active door leaf has a 13mm rebated (stepped) edge. The faceplate is shaped to accommodate this step, ensuring correct alignment of the latch and deadbolt with the strike plate on the inactive leaf. For standard single doors or doors with a flat edge, use the standard Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock instead.
What is the difference between the 45mm and 60mm backset?
The backset is the distance from the door edge (faceplate) to the centre of the latch or bolt. A 45mm backset positions the latch closer to the door edge — suited to narrower door stiles or specific hardware configurations. A 60mm backset is the most common for residential entrance doors, providing more clearance between the door edge and the cylinder. Always check your existing door preparation or your chosen lever handle set specifications before selecting a backset.
What doors is the rebated version designed for?
The rebated version is designed exclusively for French doors and double door sets where the active door leaf has a 13mm rebated (stepped) edge. The faceplate is shaped to accommodate this step, ensuring correct alignment of the latch and deadbolt with the strike plate on the inactive leaf. For standard single doors or doors with a flat edge, use the standard Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock instead.
What euro cylinder do I need?
The euro cylinder is purchased separately. The most popular configuration for residential entrance doors is Key/Thumb — key from the outside, thumb turn from the inside, so you can always exit without a key. Key/Key cylinders are available for applications requiring a key from both sides. Always match the cylinder size to your door thickness and backset. Iver euro cylinders are available in matching finishes to complement your lever handles and escutcheons.
Is the lock compatible with Iver lever handle entrance sets?
Yes. The Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock Rebated is designed to work with Iver lever handle entrance sets. The 85mm CTC spacing matches the escutcheon plates and lever backplates in the Iver range. Always confirm the backset (45mm or 60mm) matches your chosen lever handle entrance kit before purchasing.
How many cycles has this lock been tested to?
The Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock Rebated has been tested to over 130,000 cycles, demonstrating long-term mechanical reliability for residential and light commercial applications.
What warranty is included?
Iver door hardware is backed by a 10-Year Mechanical Warranty in Australia, covering defects in materials and workmanship. In addition, a Lifetime Finish Warranty applies to Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, Polished Nickel and Brushed Gold PVD. Polished Brass and Brushed Brass are living finishes that naturally age and patina over time and are generally excluded from finish defect warranties. Contact us for full warranty terms and conditions.
What finishes are available?
The Iver 85mm Euro Mortice Lock Rebated is available in 10 finishes: Brushed Brass, Brushed Chrome, Brushed Gold PVD, Distressed Nickel, Matt Black, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Polished Nickel, Satin Nickel and Signature Brass. Brushed Chrome, Polished Chrome, Polished Nickel and Brushed Gold PVD are covered by the Lifetime Finish Warranty. Polished Brass and Brushed Brass are living finishes that will naturally age and patina over time. If you're unsure which finish suits your door hardware, contact us — we're happy to help.
What else do I need to complete my entrance door installation?
To complete a full entrance door installation you will need: a euro cylinder (Key/Thumb or Key/Key) sized to your door thickness, a pair of lever handles or knobs on your chosen backplate, escutcheons to cover the cylinder on both sides, and hinges (we recommend 3 per door). All components are available in matching Iver finishes. Contact us if you need help specifying the full set.
