What It's Used For

Use the FDBU60-45 when a 45mm fire door's bottom clearance has blown out far beyond the AS 1905.1 limit – after floor levelling, carpet removal or door trimming – and the door must return to compliance without replacement.

Add a Kilargo 4000 Series threshold plate for aesthetics or disability compliance, and confirm test coverage with your fire door manufacturer.

Compliance & What It Means

Fire rated — AS 1530.4 / AS 1905.1 (up to 2 hours). Fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. In a fire, the intumescent core expands to many times its size and seals the gap, blocking flames, heat and hot toxic gases — keeping the door assembly's fire rating intact.
Brings non-compliant fire doors back to compliance. AS 1905.1 sets strict limits on fire door clearances. Where gaps exceed the allowable limit, the door fails inspection. This upgrade seal is the cost-effective fix — it restores compliance without rebuilding or replacing the door.
Smoke sealing — BCA/NCC Specification C3.4. Conforms with Building Code of Australia (NCC) Specification C3.4 smoke sealing requirements. Smoke — not flame — is the biggest killer in building fires, and C3.4 sets out how door gaps must be sealed so escape routes stay clear of smoke.

Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.

Ordering & dispatch. This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory line. Please allow a standard handling time of 5–8 business days after cleared payment before dispatch. Need it sooner, or not sure which seal suits your door? Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028.
My fire door is 35mm thick - can I use this?

No - this version suits nominal 45mm fire doors. For 35mm doors order the FDBU60-35, and for gaps under 20mm the more compact FDBU20.

How does an intumescent fire seal work?

The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).

Which fire doors is the FDBU60-45 approved for?

It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).

What is the handling time for this item?

I'm not sure this is the right seal for my door — can I get help?

Yes. Door sealing depends on your door type, the gap sizes and what you need to seal against (fire, smoke, sound, weather or drafts). Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 with your door details and gap measurements and we'll confirm the right Kilargo seal, size and finish before you order.
