The Kilargo Intumescent Door Grille kit lets you put an air-transfer grille in a fire door without destroying its fire rating. The kit includes an IFD-D intumescent fire damper cell, two decorative powder-coated cover grilles, Kilargo fire-rated mastic and fixings – achieving a 2-hour integrity / ½-hour insulation rating on nominal 37 mm and 47 mm fire doors.

What It's Used For
Air-conditioning and ventilation systems often need airflow through doors that must stay fire-rated – plant rooms, corridors, commercial kitchens and switch rooms. Cutting a plain grille into a fire door voids it; the IFD-D kit keeps air moving and restores full 2-hour integrity in a fire.
The damper cell centres into the door cut-out, is bedded with intumescent mastic, and the cover grilles screw to both faces – installation is equally simple on new or existing doors.

How can a grille be fire rated if air passes through it?
The IFD cell is a honeycomb of intumescent material. At everyday temperatures air flows freely through the cells; in a fire the intumescent expands rapidly, closing every cell and sealing the opening solid - restoring the door's 2-hour integrity.
Can it be fitted to an existing fire door?
Yes - cut the prescribed opening, centre the IFD-D cell with Kilargo intumescent mastic and screw the cover grilles to both faces. Always confirm the door type and cut-out with your fire door manufacturer or certifier first.
Is it suitable for external doors?
The decorative powder-coated grilles are for internal use only.
