The Kilargo KG2512BW is a hybrid intumescent fire, smoke and acoustic door perimeter seal with dual elastomeric fins, fitted to the frame rebate without removing the door. The graphite intumescent core delivers up to 2 hours fire resistance on proprietary doors while the twin fins provide outstanding smoke and sound containment every day. Gap size 3–5 mm.

What It's Used For

Choose the KG2512BW when a fire door must also meet serious smoke and acoustic requirements – apartment entry doors, hotel rooms, corridor and stair doors. The twin-fin design gives two wiping seal lines against the closing door, audibly better than single-fin seals.

Compliance & What It Means

Fire rated — AS 1530.4 / AS 1905.1 (up to 2 hours). Fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. In a fire, the intumescent core expands to many times its size and seals the gap, blocking flames, heat and hot toxic gases — keeping the door assembly's fire rating intact.
Smoke tested — AS 1530.7 / AS 6905. Holds medium-temperature (200°C) smoke leakage approvals to AS 1530.7, compliant with AS 6905 on proprietary door assemblies. This is the test the BCA relies on for smoke doors — it verifies the seal keeps hot, toxic smoke from leaking past the door for the required 30 minutes.
Acoustic tested — AS 1191 / ISO 140-3 / ISO 10140-2. Acoustically tested in accordance with AS 1191, ISO 140-3 and ISO 10140-2 — the laboratory standards for measuring sound insulation. Correctly sealed doors are the difference between a quiet room and a noisy one; this seal is proven to cut sound leakage through the door gaps.

Why does the KG2512BW have two fins?

Two independent elastomeric fins create two sealing lines with an air cavity between them - measurably better acoustic insulation and smoke containment than a single fin, on the same double-glazing principle.

Can it be fitted without taking the door off?

Yes - it applies to the frame rebate with its integral self-adhesive tape, door still hung.

How does an intumescent fire seal work?

The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).

Which fire doors is the KG2512BW approved for?
