Key Features
What It's Used For
The KG4002 is the fire-door inspector's fix: when an annual inspection finds perimeter gaps over 3mm, this seal brings the doorset back within AS 1905.1 limits without carpentry. Used across apartment buildings, hotels, aged care and commercial fire door maintenance programs.
Use it with a Kilargo Fire Door Bottom Upgrade seal (FDBU20/FDBU60) to bring the whole door back to compliance. Check approval suitability for your door type with Kilargo's technical department or the door manufacturer.

Compliance & What It Means
Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.
What's included in a KG4002 set?
Head and jamb lengths to upgrade one complete door perimeter - Single, Long Single, Double or Long Double configurations. Lengths trim to size on site with shears.
When do I need the KG4002?
When a fire door's perimeter clearances exceed the maximum 3mm specified by AS 1905.1 (a common fire door inspection failure). The KG4002 upgrades gaps up to and including 6mm, restoring compliance without rebuilding the door or frame.
How does an intumescent fire seal work?
The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).
Can I paint it to match the frame?
Yes - the white or silver PVC casing can be painted on site with standard finishes.
Which fire doors is the KG4002 approved for?
It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).
