Key Features
What It's Used For
Specify the IS4055s where an aluminium threshold won't survive – commercial kitchens, food processing, laboratories, hospitals, breweries and coastal buildings. Stainless steel shrugs off wash-down chemicals and disinfectants that attack lesser finishes.
Pair with a Kilargo door bottom seal (the antimicrobial silicone range suits the same environments) for a complete hygienic door bottom detail.

Compliance & What It Means
Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.
Is the IS4055s wheelchair friendly / disability compliant?
Yes - its low profile keeps the threshold within the limits of AS 1428.1 (Design for Access and Mobility) and BCA/NCC clauses D2.15 & D3.3, so it can be used on accessible paths of travel without creating a barrier for wheelchairs or a trip hazard.
Why choose stainless steel over aluminium for a threshold?
Grade 304 stainless resists the chemicals, disinfectants and constant wash-downs found in kitchens, laboratories and healthcare - environments where anodised aluminium can stain, pit or corrode. It's also the durable choice for coastal salt-air exposure.
Does a threshold plate seal the door by itself?
A threshold plate provides the hard, flat (or ramped) sealing surface at the floor - it works together with a Kilargo door bottom seal (automatic drop seal or sweep seal) that closes onto it. The plate stops water tracking under the sill and gives the seal a consistent surface, and the pair together block rain, draughts, smoke and noise.
How is the threshold plate fixed down?
Stainless steel fixing screws and plugs are supplied. Alternatively, most Kilargo thresholds can be bedded in builder's adhesive for a concealed fixing. PVC bedding pads (where supplied) go underneath to eliminate vibration, noise and moisture ingress beneath the plate.
What lengths does the IS4055s come in?
Standard lengths are 1000mm and 2250mm, and it can be ordered in 250mm increments from 1000mm to 3250mm. Plates can also be cut down on site for an exact doorway fit.
