The Kilargo IS4140 is a carpet threshold plate used where carpet runs under the door and a flat sealing surface is required. With a Kilargo door bottom seal closing onto it, it blocks draughts, insects and smoke – and its snap-fit cover strip conceals all fixings.

What It's Used For

Door bottom seals can't seal onto soft carpet – the IS4140 solves this by bridging the carpet line with a firm aluminium surface the seal can close against. Essential for smoke doors and acoustic doors in carpeted corridors, hotels, offices and apartments.

Its low profile keeps the doorway wheelchair-friendly and trip-safe.

Why do I need a threshold plate on carpet?

Automatic and sweep door bottom seals need a firm, flat surface to seal against - carpet compresses and leaves air paths. The IS4140 bridges the carpet under the door line, giving the seal a proper landing so smoke, draught and acoustic ratings are actually achieved.

Is the IS4140 wheelchair friendly / disability compliant?

Yes - its low profile keeps the threshold within the limits of AS 1428.1 (Design for Access and Mobility) and BCA/NCC clauses D2.15 & D3.3, so it can be used on accessible paths of travel without creating a barrier for wheelchairs or a trip hazard.

How is the threshold plate fixed down?

Stainless steel fixing screws and plugs are supplied. Alternatively, most Kilargo thresholds can be bedded in builder's adhesive for a concealed fixing. PVC bedding pads (where supplied) go underneath to eliminate vibration, noise and moisture ingress beneath the plate.

What lengths does the IS4140 come in?

Standard lengths are 1000mm and 2250mm, and it can be ordered in 250mm increments from 1000mm to 5000mm. Plates can also be cut down on site for an exact doorway fit.
