KILARGO IS8020SI FULLY MORTISED SEAL (1220MM CUTS BACK TO 1070MM)

The Kilargo IS8020si is a heavy-duty automatic door bottom seal that can be face-fixed, semi-rebated or fully mortised into single-action doors – one seal, three mounting options. The spring-loaded mechanism drops the silicone gasket to the floor as the door closes, sealing gaps of 3–15 mm against fire, smoke, sound, draughts and dust.

Key Features

Face-fix, semi-rebate or fully mortise – the most versatile heavy-duty drop seal in the range
Reversible aluminium top cover plate conceals fixings on face-fixed installs
Fully-mortised option fits a 54mm deep x 22mm wide groove with stainless steel end plates
Adjustable brass strike button; spring mechanism lifts the seal clear when the door opens
Assists AS 1428.1 closing-force compliance; certified GVYI/GVWZ/GVWZ7.R26629
Silver or black anodised finish with matching silicone gasket
Durability tested beyond 1,000,000 cycles; Australian made

What It's Used For

The IS8020si is specified for heavy-traffic fire, smoke and acoustic doors – hospital corridors, school classrooms, hotel rooms, theatres and commercial entries – wherever a robust, self-operating under-door seal must survive constant use.

Its three mounting styles make it equally suited to new doors (fully mortised for a concealed finish) and retrofit upgrades (face-fixed with the door still hung). Combine with Kilargo perimeter seals for a complete certified doorset.

Compliance & What It Means

Fire tested — AS 1530.4 / AS 1905.1. Fire tested to AS 1530.4 (the Australian standard fire-resistance test) in accordance with AS 1905.1, the standard for fire-rated doorsets. In plain terms: this seal has been proven on proprietary fire door assemblies, so it can be specified on fire doors without compromising the door's fire rating.
Certified — GVYI.R26629, GVWZ.R26629, GVWZ7.R26629. Carries independent product certifications (GVYI.R26629, GVWZ.R26629, GVWZ7.R26629), giving certifiers and building surveyors documented evidence of compliance.
Smoke tested — AS 1530.7 / AS 6905. Holds medium-temperature (200°C) smoke leakage approvals to AS 1530.7, compliant with AS 6905 on proprietary door assemblies. This is the test the BCA relies on for smoke doors — it verifies the seal keeps hot, toxic smoke from leaking past the door for the required 30 minutes.
Smoke sealing — BCA/NCC Specification C3.4. Conforms with Building Code of Australia (NCC) Specification C3.4 smoke sealing requirements. Smoke — not flame — is the biggest killer in building fires, and C3.4 sets out how door gaps must be sealed so escape routes stay clear of smoke.
Acoustic tested — AS 1191 / ISO 140-3 / ISO 10140-2. Acoustically tested in accordance with AS 1191, ISO 140-3 and ISO 10140-2 — the laboratory standards for measuring sound insulation. Correctly sealed doors are the difference between a quiet room and a noisy one; this seal is proven to cut sound leakage through the door gaps.
Door closing force — AS 1428.1. Contains a high-efficiency, low-friction mechanism designed to help door assemblies meet the maximum opening/closing force requirements of AS 1428.1 (Design for Access and Mobility) — important on accessible doors fitted with door closers.
Durability — 1,000,000+ cycles. Durability tested through more than 1,000,000 open-and-close cycles — engineered for decades of service in high-traffic commercial buildings.
Antimicrobial option available. Also offered in an antimicrobial (AM) silicone version, formulated to inhibit the growth of bacteria and mould on the gasket surface — specified in hospitals, aged care, laboratories and food-preparation areas.

Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.

Ordering & dispatch. This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory line. Please allow a standard handling time of 5–8 business days after cleared payment before dispatch. Need it sooner, or not sure which seal suits your door? Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028.
How does the IS8020si automatic door bottom seal work?

A spring-loaded mechanism inside the seal lifts the silicone gasket clear of the floor the moment the door opens, so there is no drag or floor wear. As the door closes, an adjustable strike button presses against the door jamb and automatically drops the gasket down onto the floor, sealing the gap under the door.

Which mounting method should I choose for the IS8020si?

Fully mortised gives a completely concealed finish and suits new doors that can be machined (54mm deep x 22mm wide groove). Face-fixed is the retrofit option - it screws straight onto the door face with a cover plate concealing the screws. Semi-rebated is the middle ground, recessing the seal into a stepped rebate on one side. All three use the same seal.

Is the IS8020si fire and smoke rated?

Yes. It is fire tested to AS 1530.4 in accordance with AS 1905.1 on proprietary fire door assemblies, holds medium-temperature smoke leakage approvals to AS 1530.7 (AS 6905) and conforms with BCA Specification C3.4 smoke sealing requirements. Always confirm the approval matches your specific door type with your fire door manufacturer or certifier.

Can the IS8020si be cut down to fit my door width?

Yes. Each standard length can be cut back on site to an exact dimension: 1070mm cuts to 920mm, 1220mm to 1070mm and special-order 1500mm to 1220mm (920mm cuts to 610mm). Order the standard length that your door width falls within, then trim to suit.

What is the antimicrobial (AM) option?

The IS8020si can be ordered with an antimicrobial silicone gasket. The silicone is compounded with an additive that inhibits bacteria and mould growth on the gasket surface - the version specified for hospitals, aged care, laboratories and food-preparation areas. Select the Anti-Microbial option when ordering.

What is the handling time for this item?

This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory. Allow a standard handling time of 5–8 business days after cleared payment before dispatch. If your project needs express turnaround, call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 to confirm current factory lead times.

I'm not sure this is the right seal for my door — can I get help?

Yes. Door sealing depends on your door type, the gap sizes and what you need to seal against (fire, smoke, sound, weather or drafts). Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 with your door details and gap measurements and we'll confirm the right Kilargo seal, size and finish before you order.
