The Kilargo IS8520si is a heavy-duty automatic door bottom seal engineered for high-performance acoustic door systems. Its parallel-motion mechanism drops the silicone gasket evenly along its full length as the door closes, sealing gaps of 6–15 mm against sound, fire, smoke and draughts – and it can be face-fixed, semi-rebated or fully mortised.

The IS8520si is the drop seal for doors where sound really matters – recording studios, music rooms, courtrooms, boardrooms, hotel rooms, apartments and acoustic-rated corridor doors. It appears throughout Kilargo's published acoustic doorset systems alongside perimeter seals like the IS7087si and IS7195si.

It carries full fire and smoke approvals as well, so acoustic doors can double as compliant fire or smoke doors.

Standard automatic seals drop with a slight angle, pressing harder at the strike end. The IS8520si's parallel-motion mechanism lowers the gasket evenly along its entire length, maintaining uniform compression on the floor - which is exactly what acoustic door systems need to achieve their rated sound insulation (Rw) values.

How does the IS8520si automatic door bottom seal work?

A spring-loaded mechanism inside the seal lifts the silicone gasket clear of the floor the moment the door opens, so there is no drag or floor wear. As the door closes, an adjustable strike button presses against the door jamb and automatically drops the gasket down onto the floor, sealing the gap under the door.

What is the antimicrobial (AM) option?

The IS8520si can be ordered with an antimicrobial silicone gasket. The silicone is compounded with an additive that inhibits bacteria and mould growth on the gasket surface - the version specified for hospitals, aged care, laboratories and food-preparation areas.
