KILARGO KG1202XX SELFADHESIVE INTUMESCENT FIRE SEAL (12X2MM) 50M ROLL BLACK
The Kilargo KG1202XX is a flexible, self-adhesive intumescent fire seal, 12 mm x 2 mm supplied in an economical 50-metre roll (black). Applied to fire door perimeters, it expands many times its volume in a fire, sealing the gap against flames, hot smoke and toxic gases – tested for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire doors.
Key Features
What It's Used For
Use the KG1202XX around the perimeters of fire door assemblies – retrofitted to steel frames or set into a mortised groove – wherever an unobtrusive intumescent strip must protect the door gap. The 50m roll suits door manufacturers, locksmiths and contractors doing volume compliance work.
Pair it with a Kilargo door bottom solution (IS8010si automatic seal or KP4204TF sweep seal) for a total door sealing system.

Compliance & What It Means
Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.
How does an intumescent fire seal work?
The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).
Which fire doors is the KG1202XX approved for?
It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).
Is an intumescent fire seal enough on its own?
It handles the fire and hot-smoke condition. For ambient and medium-temperature smoke (the smoke that travels ahead of a fire), pair it with a dedicated smoke seal - e.g. a Kilargo Flexi-Wing perimeter seal or an automatic door bottom seal - or choose a combined fire+smoke profile with an integrated fin.
How do I apply the KG1202XX?
Ensure the surface is clean, dry and dust-free, cut the strip to length from the roll, peel the backing and press it firmly to the frame rebate or into a mortised groove. No screws or tools beyond a knife and scissors are required.
