KILARGO KG1602AS SELFADHESIVE FIRE SEAL WITH OFFSET SMOKE FIN 50M ROLL BLACK

The Kilargo KG1602AS is a self-adhesive intumescent fire seal with an offset elastomeric smoke fin – one seal for fire AND all temperatures of smoke. Supplied in a 50-metre roll (black), it fits fire door perimeters where the intumescent core handles the fire condition and the co-extruded fin seals ambient, medium and hot smoke plus sound.

Key Features

One seal covers fire and all temperatures of smoke – simplifies specification
Graphite-based intumescent core with co-extruded asymmetric smoke & acoustic fin
Outstanding smoke and sound containment properties
Aggressive self-adhesive backing for door or frame application
Flexible coil minimises cutting waste; nominal 3mm gaps
Retrofits to steel frames or sets into a mortised groove
Australian made

What It's Used For

Use the KG1602AS where fire doors must also perform as smoke doors – corridor doors, stair doors and compartment doors in hospitals, hotels and apartments – without fitting two separate seals. The offset fin wipes the closing door and maintains the smoke barrier at everyday temperatures.

Pair with a Kilargo door bottom solution (IS8010si automatic seal or KP4204TF intumescent sweep) for a complete fire and smoke door system.

Compliance & What It Means

Fire rated — AS 1530.4 / AS 1905.1 (up to 2 hours). Fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. In a fire, the intumescent core expands to many times its size and seals the gap, blocking flames, heat and hot toxic gases — keeping the door assembly's fire rating intact.
Smoke sealing — BCA/NCC Specification C3.4. Conforms with Building Code of Australia (NCC) Specification C3.4 smoke sealing requirements. Smoke — not flame — is the biggest killer in building fires, and C3.4 sets out how door gaps must be sealed so escape routes stay clear of smoke.
Acoustic tested — AS 1191 / ISO 140-3 / ISO 10140-2. Acoustically tested in accordance with AS 1191, ISO 140-3 and ISO 10140-2 — the laboratory standards for measuring sound insulation. Correctly sealed doors are the difference between a quiet room and a noisy one; this seal is proven to cut sound leakage through the door gaps.

Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.

Ordering & dispatch. This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory line. Please allow a standard handling time of 5–8 business days after cleared payment before dispatch. Need it sooner, or not sure which seal suits your door? Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028.
What does the offset fin on the KG1602AS do?

The flexible elastomeric fin wipes against the closing door, sealing the gap against smoke at everyday (ambient and medium) temperatures and improving acoustics - conditions a bare intumescent strip doesn't address until it's activated by fire heat.

How does an intumescent fire seal work?

The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).

Which fire doors is the KG1602AS approved for?

It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).

Do I still need a separate smoke seal with this?

Around the perimeter, no - the AS profile is Kilargo's 'one seal only for fire and all temperatures of smoke'. You still need a door bottom seal to close the gap under the door.

What is the handling time for this item?

This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory. Allow a standard handling time of 5–8 business days after cleared payment before dispatch. If your project needs express turnaround, call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 to confirm current factory lead times.

I'm not sure this is the right seal for my door — can I get help?

Yes. Door sealing depends on your door type, the gap sizes and what you need to seal against (fire, smoke, sound, weather or drafts). Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 with your door details and gap measurements and we'll confirm the right Kilargo seal, size and finish before you order.
