The Kilargo KG1612BW is a hybrid intumescent fire & smoke seal that fits onto the rebate of the door frame perimeter – quickly, without removing the door. Its graphite intumescent core (PVC-skinned) handles the fire condition while the elastomeric blade seals smoke, sound, draughts, dust and light every day. Tested up to 2 hours on proprietary fire doors.

What It's Used For
The KG1612BW is the retrofit hero for fire door upgrade programs – it brings fire, smoke and acoustic sealing to an existing doorset in one self-adhesive application along the frame rebate. Common in apartment entry door upgrades, hotels and aged care.
Combine with a Kilargo door bottom solution (IS8010si automatic seal or KP3504TF sweep seal) for a total door sealing system.

Can the KG1612BW be fitted without taking the door off?
Yes - it presses onto the frame rebate using its integral self-adhesive tape with the door still hung. Surfaces must be clean, dry and any paint well cured.
How does an intumescent fire seal work?
The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).
Which fire doors is the KG1612BW approved for?
It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).
Does it seal smoke as well as fire?
Yes - the elastomeric blade seals ambient and medium-temperature smoke (approvals to AS 1530.7 on proprietary assemblies) and improves acoustics, while the intumescent core activates in a fire.
