KILARGO KP1004XX RIGID PVC ENCASED INTUMESCENT FIRE SEAL
KILARGO KP1004XX RIGID PVC ENCASED INTUMESCENT FIRE SEAL
The Kilargo KP1004XX is a rigid, PVC-encased intumescent fire seal rebated into the perimeter of fire door assemblies. In a fire the sodium-silicate core expands to many times its volume, sealing the door perimeter against flames, hot smoke and toxic gases – fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire doors.
Key Features
What It's Used For
Specify the KP1004XX for machined-groove fire sealing in new fire doors and frames – door manufacturers and frame fabricators rebate it flush into the edge, where the PVC casing protects the core from knocks and paint for the life of the door.
Use with a Kilargo medium-temperature smoke seal (IS1212, IS1515 or IS0511) to maintain tenable conditions across all smoke temperatures in a fully developed fire scenario.

Compliance & What It Means
Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.
How does an intumescent fire seal work?
The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).
How is a rigid KP seal fitted?
It fits into a groove machined in the door edge or frame (sitting flush with the surface) and is held by its aggressive self-adhesive tape backing. Cut to length, peel and press - the PVC casing protects the intumescent core in service.
Is an intumescent fire seal enough on its own?
It handles the fire and hot-smoke condition. For ambient and medium-temperature smoke (the smoke that travels ahead of a fire), pair it with a dedicated smoke seal - e.g. a Kilargo Flexi-Wing perimeter seal or an automatic door bottom seal - or choose a combined fire+smoke profile with an integrated fin.
Which fire doors is the KP1004XX approved for?
It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).

I'm not sure this is the right seal for my door — can I get help?
