KILARGO KP3004AS RIGID INTUMESCENT FIRE & SMOKE SEAL

The Kilargo KP3004AS is a rigid intumescent fire & smoke seal with an offset elastomeric smoke/acoustic fin on a 30 mm intumescent body. Rebated into the door or frame, the sodium-silicate core seals the perimeter under fire conditions while the fin wipes the closing door daily for smoke and sound control.

Compliance & What It Means

Fire rated — AS 1530.4 / AS 1905.1 (up to 2 hours). Fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. In a fire, the intumescent core expands to many times its size and seals the gap, blocking flames, heat and hot toxic gases — keeping the door assembly's fire rating intact.
Smoke tested — AS 1530.7 / AS 6905. Holds medium-temperature (200°C) smoke leakage approvals to AS 1530.7, compliant with AS 6905 on proprietary door assemblies. This is the test the BCA relies on for smoke doors — it verifies the seal keeps hot, toxic smoke from leaking past the door for the required 30 minutes.
Smoke sealing — BCA/NCC Specification C3.4. Conforms with Building Code of Australia (NCC) Specification C3.4 smoke sealing requirements. Smoke — not flame — is the biggest killer in building fires, and C3.4 sets out how door gaps must be sealed so escape routes stay clear of smoke.
Acoustic tested — AS 1191 / ISO 140-3 / ISO 10140-2. Acoustically tested in accordance with AS 1191, ISO 140-3 and ISO 10140-2 — the laboratory standards for measuring sound insulation. Correctly sealed doors are the difference between a quiet room and a noisy one; this seal is proven to cut sound leakage through the door gaps.
Durability — 100,000+ cycles. Durability tested through more than 100,000 open-and-close cycles, so it keeps performing in busy commercial and residential doorways.

Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.

Ordering & dispatch. This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory line. What does the offset fin on the KP3004AS do?

It wipes against the closing door to seal ambient and medium-temperature smoke and reduce sound transmission - everyday performance the intumescent core alone can't provide until activated by fire heat.

How does an intumescent fire seal work?

The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).

How is a rigid KP seal fitted?

It fits into a groove machined in the door edge or frame (sitting flush with the surface) and is held by its aggressive self-adhesive tape backing. Cut to length, peel and press - the PVC casing protects the intumescent core in service.

Which fire doors is the KP3004AS approved for?

It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).

What is the handling time for this item?

This is a non-stocked, specialty architectural item ordered directly from the Kilargo factory. Allow a standard handling time of 5–8 business days after cleared payment before dispatch. If your project needs express turnaround, call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 to confirm current factory lead times.

I'm not sure this is the right seal for my door — can I get help?

Yes. Door sealing depends on your door type, the gap sizes and what you need to seal against (fire, smoke, sound, weather or drafts). Call Prime Hardware on 1800 329 028 with your door details and gap measurements and we'll confirm the right Kilargo seal, size and finish before you order.
