KILARGO KP4204TF RIGID PVC ENCASED INTUMESCENT FIRE & SMOKE SEAL
KILARGO KP4204TF RIGID PVC ENCASED INTUMESCENT FIRE & SMOKE SEAL
The Kilargo KP4204TF is a rigid PVC-encased intumescent fire & smoke seal with dual offset elastomeric fins, fitted to the bottom of the door as a sweep-type seal. It resists all stages of fire and smoke while delivering excellent acoustics – and because the fins run uninterrupted while the body can be checked around hardware, it's the ideal solution for double-swing pivot door assemblies.
Key Features
What It's Used For
Fit the KP4204TF to the bottom edge of fire, smoke and life-safety doors – especially double-swing pivot doors where automatic drop seals cannot operate. The twin fins sweep the threshold in both directions of travel.
Use with a Kilargo 4000 Series threshold plate to provide a total door bottom sealing solution.

Compliance & What It Means
Fire and smoke approvals apply to tested, proprietary door assemblies. Always confirm suitability for your specific door type and required rating with your fire door manufacturer or building certifier.
Why use the KP4204TF instead of an automatic drop seal?
Automatic drop seals need a jamb to strike against, so they can't work on double-swing pivot doors. The KP4204TF's dual fins sweep the floor in both directions of swing while the intumescent body protects the gap in fire - fire, smoke and acoustics in one door bottom seal.
How does an intumescent fire seal work?
The core is an intumescent material that stays inert at normal temperatures. In a fire, the heat makes it expand to many times its original volume, packing the gap between door and frame with an insulating char that blocks flames, heat and hot toxic gases - preserving the doorset's fire rating for its tested duration (up to 2 hours).
Do I need a threshold plate with it?
Kilargo recommends pairing it with a 4000 Series threshold plate so the fins sweep a flat, consistent surface - that combination forms the tested total door bottom solution.
Which fire doors is the KP4204TF approved for?
It is fully tested to AS 1530.4 for up to 2 hours on proprietary fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1. Approvals are specific to tested door types - always confirm with your fire door manufacturer or certifier that the seal is covered for your doorset and required rating (FRL).
