Zanda 1140 Heavy Duty Roller Mortice Lock — 57mm Backset, Push/Pull Operation for Entry Pull Handle Doors

The Zanda 1140 is a heavy duty roller mortice lock manufactured in the UK, designed specifically for entry doors fitted with fixed pull handles. The adjustable roller bolt operates by push or pull from either side without requiring a lever handle to retract the latch — the door holds shut without locking, making it ideal for going outside without being locked out. Turning the euro cylinder throws the deadbolt for secure locking when required. With a 57mm backset, 76mm case size, and an incredibly strong adjustable roller mechanism, it is built for both residential and commercial applications. Backed by a 10 Year Mechanical Warranty.

Push/Pull Operation: The 1140's roller bolt engages and disengages by push or pull — no lever handle required. This makes it the correct lock for fixed entrance pull handles where the door needs to close and latch automatically without a separate handle turn. Deadbolt security is operated by the euro cylinder.

What's in the Box

  • 1 × Zanda 1140 Heavy Duty Roller Mortice Lock — 57mm backset (finish as selected)

Note: Euro cylinder and escutcheons sold separately. For a complete ready-to-install kit including lock, escutcheons, and cylinder, see the Zanda Roller Lock Kit range (1149 / 1150 / 1157). For a 45mm backset version, see the 1139 (45mm backset, 65mm case size).

Bundle Guide

Step 1 — Backset: The 1140 uses a 57mm backset. Measure from the door edge to the centre of the existing handle bore to confirm. For a 45mm backset, see the 1139.

Step 2 — Cylinder: A euro profile cylinder is required (sold separately). Choose a single cylinder (key/turn) for external entry doors or a double cylinder (key/key) where key access is needed from both sides. Standard cylinder length for this lock is 70mm.

Step 3 — Escutcheon: Choose a round or square escutcheon (keyhole cover) in your selected finish from the Zanda escutcheon range to complete the installation.

Step 4 — Finish: Available in Stainless Steel, Matt Black, Satin Brass, Graphite Nickel, and White. Match your finish to the pull handle and escutcheon for a coordinated result.

Why do I need a roller mortice lock instead of a standard mortice lock?
A standard mortice lock uses a spring latch that requires a lever handle to retract. The 1140 roller bolt retracts automatically on push or pull — no lever needed. This makes it the correct lock for doors fitted with fixed entrance pull handles or D-pulls, where there is no operating lever to retract a latch. The door holds shut without locking, allowing free passage, while the euro cylinder provides deadbolt security when needed.
What is the difference between the 1139 and 1140?
Both are heavy duty roller mortice locks with the same push/pull operation, but different backsets and case sizes. The 1139 has a 45mm backset and 65mm case size — suited to narrower door stiles or doors with existing 45mm prep. The 1140 has a 57mm backset and 76mm case size — the standard specification for most residential and commercial entry doors. Measure from the door edge to the centre of your existing bore to confirm which you need.
What cylinder is required for the 1140?
The 1140 requires a euro profile cylinder, sold separately. A 70mm euro cylinder is the standard pairing. Choose a single cylinder (key outside / turn inside) for external entry doors, or a double cylinder (key/key) where key access is required from both sides. See the Zanda euro cylinder range for compatible options in your chosen finish.
Is a complete lock kit available?
Yes. The Zanda Roller Lock Kit range (1149, 1150, 1157) bundles the 1140 lock with matching escutcheons and a euro cylinder in a single purchase. This is the recommended option if you are specifying or installing from scratch and want all components matched and ready to install.
What finishes is the 1140 available in?
The Zanda 1140 Heavy Duty Roller Mortice Lock is available in five finishes: Stainless Steel, Matt Black, Satin Brass, Graphite Nickel, and White — all coordinating across the Zanda lock, cylinder, and escutcheon range.
What warranty does the Zanda 1140 carry?
The Zanda 1140 Heavy Duty Roller Mortice Lock carries a 10 Year Mechanical Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions.
