Superior Brass Lever Lock - Iron Matt Black 155x41mm (Pair)
The Lever Lock Iron Matt Black is a matt black lever set for interior and entrance doors, with secure, smooth daily operation. Finished in Matt Black and made from iron, it is supplied as a pair.
Door Functions Explained
The handle set is the same in each case — the latch or lock behind it is what changes.
| Function | What it does |
|---|---|
| Passage | The latch operates from both sides at all times and does not lock. For bedrooms, living areas, studies — any door that simply opens and closes. |
| Privacy | Locks from the inside with a turn or snib, with an emergency release on the outside. For bathrooms, ensuites and bedrooms. |
| Entrance / Euro | Key-lockable using a euro-profile cylinder in a euro mortice lock. For front, back and any door that must lock with a key. |
| Skeleton Key (Traditional) | A traditional 3 lever mortice lock operated by a skeleton key, with a key escutcheon on each face. For period doors. |
| Dummy / Fixed | A fixed handle with no latch. Used as a pull on a fixed panel or the inactive leaf of a double door. |

What is the Superior Brass Lever Lock - Iron Matt Black 155x41mm (Pair)?
It is a Superior Brass door handle set in iron, finished in Matt Black. Product code 2035.
What is included?
The lever set only — pair, with the spindle and fixing screws. The latch or lock body for your chosen function is NOT included and is ordered separately, because the same handle set is used for every function. Hinges, door stops and euro cylinders are also sold separately.
Which lock body do I need?
It depends on the door function. Passage doors take a passage tube latch (9028 45mm / 9031 60mm). Privacy doors take a privacy mortice lock (9062 45mm / 9022 60mm). Entrance doors take a euro mortice lock (9000 47.6mm / 9300 60mm) plus a euro cylinder. A traditional skeleton key door takes a 3 lever mortice lock (9020 45mm / 9021 60mm). Rebated double doors take a rebated 3 lever lock (9047 / 9048). Austyle and Superior Brass share one lock platform, so the code carries the same finish as the handle — see the Matching Lock Bodies table in the description for the codes in this finish.
What is the difference between Passage, Privacy, Entrance and Skeleton Key?
Passage: the latch operates from both sides and never locks. Privacy: locks from the inside with a turn or snib, with an emergency release outside. Entrance / Euro: key-lockable using a euro cylinder in a euro mortice lock. Skeleton Key: a traditional 3 lever mortice lock operated by a skeleton key, with a key escutcheon on each face. Dummy / Fixed: a fixed handle with no latch, used as a pull.
What is backset, and which do I choose?
Backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the spindle. The lock bodies come in 45mm and 60mm (and 47.6mm on the euro lock). Measure the existing lock, or the position of the handle on the door, before ordering.
How many hinges do I need?
Three hinges per door is the standard. Hinges are supplied as a pair, so a standard door takes two pairs. Concealed 3D hinges are the exception and are sold singly. Heavier or taller doors may need a fourth hinge.
What size is it?
155x41mm.
What warranty does it carry?
12-Month Mechanical Warranty, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use when correctly installed. It is applied as a statutory mechanical warranty.
How do I care for the finish?
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents. Living finishes such as antique and unlacquered brass are designed to develop a natural patina over time.
